Begin with an audio file you can actually use
Use your own recording, a permitted local download or a track you have already extracted from a disc with suitable software. A YouTube address, an online music subscription and an audio CD are not interchangeable input files.
Free MP3 Cutter Joiner does not download music from YouTube or streaming services, rip CDs, bypass protection, or install a ringtone on an iPhone. If you have a supported local video, its audio can be prepared with the separate audio-extraction workflow.
Prepare audio from a local video Start with music from an audio CDPrepare a short clip on Windows
- Open the local audio file in Cut MP3, then choose Trim clip.
- Choose a recognizable passage no longer than 30 seconds. Leave the first sound intact and avoid a long silent introduction.
- Preview both edges, apply the range, and add a short fade out only if it improves the ending.
- Export a new MP3 or WAV. Keep the full song as your source and listen to the clip before transferring it.
Use Apple’s GarageBand import and export
Save the clip where the iPhone Files app can access it, for example in iCloud Drive. In GarageBand, open an audio recording project, switch to Tracks, then use the Loops Browser’s Files option to browse the file. Drag it to the beginning of the track.
Return to My Songs, select the project and choose Share, then Ringtone. Name it and export. Use “Use sound as” to assign it. Apple limits the ringtone to 30 seconds and offers to shorten a longer selection. Protected or unavailable library songs cannot be imported for this purpose.
Apple: create a custom ringtone on iPhoneCheck the sound on the phone
Play the assigned tone at a normal phone volume. If the opening is weak, choose a later starting point in the original and repeat the preparation. Renaming an MP3 file to M4R does not create a ringtone package; use the supported ringtone export instead.
